Water Aid

Spark members and supporters gathered at Mighty in San Francisco for Water Aid:
A Myanmar Relief Event. Michelle Forte, CARE's Senior Director of Development
for the Western Region, described the devastation caused by Tropical Cyclone
Nargis and CARE's immediate response to the crisis. All proceeds from Water Aid
were donated to CARE's Myanmar Cyclone Response Fund to ensure that the most
vulnerable - female-headed households, mothers with young children, the ill and
the elderly - are able to access clean drinking water and sanitation to prevent
the spread of disease. |

Cocktails for a Cause
April 2008
Spark members came together at Apartment 24 to raise a grant for the women of the Mandiso Water Pump Project in Madagascar. While mingling and sipping cocktails, 250 Spark members contributed to provide approximately 500 foot-powered water pumps to woman subsistence farmers.

Reading, Watching and Learning with Spark

Spark and Human Rights Watch Network members screened Eva Mulvad's award-winning documentary Enemies of Happiness. The film was followed by a cocktail reception with the authors of
Human Rights Watch's report Against Fear: Women's Participation in Afghanistan's 2005 Elections.
