An Intimate Gathering with Patricia Cervantes of "JUSTICIA PARA NUESTRAS HIJAS"

In an intimate gathering at Spark Board Member Kathleen Kelly's home, Patricia Cervantes Pertenece of Justicia Para Nuestras Hijas, told her tragic story of the murder of her daughter, Neyra Cervantes. Neyra mysteriously disappeared in 2003 in the city of , Mexico while walking home one day. Tragically, Neyra's cousin, David Meza, was tortured into confessing to the murder, and is currently facing sentencing amid protests from Neyra�s mother and other activists. The disappearance is a part of a series of murders of young women in this region, all of which go unsolved and completely uninvestigated by the local authorities. Jessica Marques of the Mexico Solidarity Network also spoke about the underlying causes of this horrible situation, and explained more about the kinds of actions that we can take to help stop this violence and bring justice to the families of these innocent young women.
